Your source file stays unchanged. Interactive forms, signature widgets and encrypted PDFs are not supported. New outputs do not preserve document-level bookmarks and attachments. Image-page compression also flattens page content. Download before reloading, closing the tab or using browser back/forward navigation.

About Add Page Numbers

Add a readable page sequence to a PDF report, application or document bundle without rebuilding its contents.

How to use Add Page Numbers

  1. Choose one supported PDF, or continue with another ToolPaxa PDF result.
  2. Choose pages, position, font size, margin, starting number and format. Leave the page field blank to number all pages.
  3. Preview any page, then add numbers and download. Use Continue with a PDF tool for the next step.

Features and output

The uploaded PDF preview appears automatically; switching pages loads that source page. Six top/bottom positions, text color, page ranges and three number formats. Numbers count in document order from the chosen start. Placement follows the visible page even when it is rotated or cropped. Preview one page before downloading the complete PDF.

When this tool is useful

Number a merged report, skip an unnumbered cover, or give application attachments a consistent reading sequence.

Frequently asked questions

Can I skip the cover page?

Yes. Enter a range beginning at page 2, such as 2-10. The first selected page receives your chosen starting number; unselected pages stay unchanged.

What does the 1 / 10 format mean?

The first value is the assigned number. The second is the final assigned number for the selected sequence. Starting at 5 across three pages gives 5 / 7, 6 / 7 and 7 / 7.

Are existing page numbers removed?

No. New numbers are added over the page. Choose a free margin so they do not overlap existing headers, footers or content.

Can I keep working after numbering?

Yes. Download or continue to Watermark, Compress, Organize, Merge, Split, page tools or PDF to JPG without selecting the output again. Files stay in browser memory.
